Purpose of Experiment

Children tend to look like their parents, but not exactly. Children inherit some characteristics or genetic traits from one parent and some from another.

  • Traits that we inherit include tongue rolling, attached earlobes, freckles and dimples.
  • What traits do you have?
  • How common are they?
  • How many other people have the same combination of traits as you?

Instructions

You will need a Flash enabled browser to submit data for this experiment.

At the start you will need to enter your LEA and School codes (if you are unaware of these please use this link to contact us).

Once logged on with successful codes, you will be asked to enter your age, gender and, only if your teacher has given you one, a project code. You will then enter data on the traits that you have - see the student work sheet for more information. To enter your data you simply click on the appropriate picture. For some of the traits if you are unsure you have an option to click on 'not sure'. Once sumbitted you will be able to compare your data with other data from our database.
